Closed die forging / maxi presses forging

The closed die forging process applies to circu­­­­­lar and/or symme­­­­­tri­­­­­cal parts and enables to produce parts with tight tole­­­­­rances, up to 1mm from final sides. This method leads to a saving of mate­­­­­rial from 10 up to 50% depen­­­­­ding on the shape of the parts and reduces also the produc­­­­­tion costs of machi­­­­­ning.

Iton forging parts are produ­­­­­ced without any loss of mate­­­­­rial, any burr or any die split. The tole­­­­­rances on diame­­­­­ters are very tights : +/- 0,25mm for exter­­­­­nal diame­­­­­ters and 0,50 mm for inter­­­­­­­­­nal diame­­­­­ters.

Further­­­­­more the use of forging preserves the grain flow of the mate­­­­­rial and increases the tech­­­­­ni­­­­­cal quali­­­­­ties of parts. For many parts with a diame­­­­­ter bigger than 75mm, machi­­­­­ning from preli­­­­­mi­­­­­nary model of forged parts is more econo­­­­­mi­­­­­cal than turning from bars.
